6 Reasons Your next holiday should be a cruise

6 Reasons your next holiday should be a cruise

We have booked a cruise for this month and I can’t wait! According to Business Insider  nearly 1 in 20 Australians went cruising last year.  A massive 27% increase.  Cruising is the faster growing form of holiday and Australians are certainly jumping on board

My husband and I love cruising! I never thought I would say it because I thought there were only two types of people who enjoyed cruising. The senior seniors of our society or the young party animals who take cruises to the South Pacific Islands and just want to drink and party 24/7. Over the last 5 years we have taken quite a few cruises and I’m definitely hooked.

In fact, we are just about to take a short 7 day P&O cruise to New Caledonia and in October we are booked on an MSC cruise of the Mediteraean.

I written before about the Pros and Cons of cruising which you can read here before making the final decision.  No pressure, but to me it is Pros all the way.

6 Reasons Why your next holiday should be a cruise

1. A Floating resort

You are booked into a floating hotel resort with everything that a land resort can offer plus more.

2. Variety of options for length of cruise

Cruises have different lengths of travel from 3 days to around the world cruises of over 100 days.

3. Once you unpack that is it for the holiday.

This is my favourite! No packing, racing to the next destination and unpacking for a night or two, then repeating the process over a period of two weeks.  Not to mention lugging heavy bags and negotiating public transport in a foreign country.

4. Flexibility & total relaxation

You have the same flexibility onboard as you would in a normal resort.  You can participate in the ‘at sea day’ activities and take dance or yoga classes, attend art auctions, laze by the pool or find a cosy nook in one of the bars to relax, have a quiet drink or read a book.

5. Explore the world

You visit fascinating destinations without the hassle as you usually sail at night and arrive at a new destination the next morning.  This gives you a taste of different places and if you don’t like it you are only there for the day and can go back to the ship.  If you like it you can enjoy the experience and put it on the bucket list for a return visit and a longer stay.

6. Entertainment

I love this part of the cruise.  The evening shows are top class and there are usually different shows every night so something is sure to appeal.

Oh and if you aren’t convinced yet then what about the cute animals they make from towels and leave on your bed.  Surely that must be the top reason to book a cruise today!

So what are you waiting for?  Why not book a cruise and feel fit, fabulous healthier and happier?  You know you deserve it!

We love cruising Shirley and I am so overdue for one! Your cruise sounds wonderful but yes you should book another one. Think of the writing you could do on the ‘at sea’ days!

Oh I am Deb it has been a very tough 9 months since the death of my FIL and my MIL moving into an aged care facility. My husband (and I) can really use a relaxing holiday so I’m counting the sleeps. You should try a cruise, Australia has some short ones now that you can try for example Melbourne to Sydney, or Sydney to Brisbane. Short and sweet but they give you a taste. Book it!

Cruises are the best! I like the fact that you only unpack once but visit so many locations. I have been on two: one in the Med visiting Rome, Florence, Cannes and Majorca and the other on the Aegean taking in Athens, Istanbul, Kusadasi, Lesbos among others. Put on a lot of weight though 🙁

It is hard to resist the buffet isn’t it AJ and I’ve been to some of the same places as you. Such wonderful experiences both on and off the ship. We are heading to Spain in October for a cruise and am really looking forward to that. Thanks for stopping by and have a beautiful day.

I totally agree with you that cruising is a wonderful way to see the world and have a great vacation. We’ve done several of the “Grand Circle” cruises and thoroughly enjoyed them.

All the reasons you’ve outlined are fantastic reasons to book a vacation on a cruise! My husband and I are cruising next month and are really looking forward to not unpacking every time we get off in a new city.

We went on a cruise for our honeymoon… 16 years ago! and loved it. We have yet to be back though. I have looked into it a time or two but with three kids accommodations are not easy.

Yes it is more difficult with children Joanne but maybe a short ‘second honeymoon’ for you and your husband would be nice. Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day x

I have wanted to go on a cruise forever! Need to share your post with my Prince Charming. And we need to make this happen. Thank you for confirming what I always believed…that a cruise must be a marvelous vacay.
