What you do today

PLANNING IS THE KEY!

1. Plan your exercise

We are all busy and the first thing that usually goes by the wayside is our regular workout.  Make an appointment with yourself (or with a workout buddy even better) and schedule the appointment in your calendar.

2. Plan your weekly menus and prep one day per week

Prepare your meals and snacks ahead of time so that you can just grab and go.  You will save time, feel better because you are eating healthy food and also your finances will look so much healthier.

3. Plan time for FUN

Make time in your diary to socialise with friends, do something you enjoy and something that will make you laugh.

Laughter is good for the soul.Click To Tweet

4. Plan to regular health checks

Part of a healthy lifestyle is making sure you take care of yourself and that means regular health checks (especially when you reach 50), knowing your family medical history and regular trips to the dentist.

5. Plan to Have a Rest Day

One of the most important tips is to incorporate a rest day (or longer) to relax, refresh and recover.  This means turning off from technology, taking time to nurture yourself, having a lie in and general taking it easy.

Hi, Sue – Great post and solid advice. In retirement, it is easy to slip into the thinking that we no longer need to ‘plan’ as we will have lots of time on our hands to let things ‘unfold’. But when it comes to optimum health and happiness, planning remains key. Thanks for sharing this!

So pleased you enjoyed the post Donna. Planning is the key. It doens’t have to be rigid but if you don’t have any idea of what you want to do or where you are going you just stagnate and that isn’t healthy. Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by. x

I agree with all of these points Sue, it’s important to plan and rest too. We are bombarded with so much technology a break from it all one day or just a few hours will make a difference. Great!

Thanks Debbie! Taking a break from technology is something that is so hard to do but I am really making a conscious effort. It is hard though not to grab the phone and check what is happening in the social media world! I do feel better when I’ve taken a break though and discovered there is life apart from SM. Have a great weekend. x

I love how balanced these suggestions are Sue – it’s not all about exercise or diet, but about a whole of body and life approach – and that’s vital for being happier and healthier. You are a superb example of all five x

Thanks Janet you have made my weekend! Sometimes I get so confused about whether what I’m doing is worthwhile and then something like this happens. Perfect timing. Have a fabulous weekend!

Hi Sue! This is a lovely blogpost and applies to women of all ages actually. I am a mother in her 30s and I have all the excuses to put myself last in terms of health and wellness. So, this is a fantastic initiative for women in general and I find your thoughts very positive and inspiring. I would also like to invite you to my blog https://pensense.blogspot.in. You might find it a good read…Would love to know your thoughts on it. Keep writing and inspiring. Love and Cheers!

What a beautiful comment Tina and I will definitely be visiting your site. I don’t know if you link up but you are welcome to join our Over the Moon Link party each week from Monday morning Brisbane time. My daughter is a mother of one and has a very high powered job she finds it impossible to find time for herself and it really is a worry to me. Sometimes I feel like I have to take over but resist the mothering urge. I’m so pleased you enjoyed the post and the message and hope you will visit again. Have a lovely weekend. xx
