Meaningful Mondays: A month of Health & Wellness

June Health & Wellness Month

June Health & Wellness Month

In May, I decided to make that month my month of happiness and focus on what makes me happy.  I also realised by month end, that happiness comes from within and I don’t really need to have rely on possessions or others to be happy.  If you haven’t read any of my posts about Happiness then I would encourage you to check them out and leave me your comments on how you find happiness.

It is now June can you believe it?

That means we are almost at the halfway mark for another year.  To me, this is a great time to take stock of how I’m going and I’m making June my health & wellness month!

I’m actually teaming up with one of my Saturday Sisters who I run with and also I think I might have my darling husband on board too!

It is always easier to support and be supported by other people support and be supported by other people in challenges as it certainly helps keep the motivation going.  I’ve written before about the The Top 5 Benefits of Having an Exercise Buddy.

What is my approach?

My aim is to concentrate on exercise, eating well balanced meals, cutting down on alcohol and making more time to ‘just be’ and enjoy the moment.

If you follow my blog you will already now that I am passionate about keeping fit, fabulous, healthier and happier as I age.  I want to spread the word that aging can be a positive experience and also being fit and healthy doesn’t mean running marathons or existing on lettuce leaves.

I’ve made a start by entering a 35km run in August, just 10 days before I turn 60.  It gives me a focus and I’ll have something to work towards.  Of course, I don’t expect you to do anything crazy like that!!!  But you should think about ways you can improve your overall health and wellness.

I will be posting regularly throughout the month with ideas and my experiences of keeping healthier not only physically but mentally and spiritually.

It is the whole package.

You need to be healthy in all three areas to feel alive and enjoy life to the max.

I hope that I can encourage you to take stock of life and see if there are any changes you want to make to feel better inside and out.

That is great Ingrid. No you don’t have to be crazy like me and do a 35km. It is all about doing what you enjoy and keeping fit, health and happy at the same time. Looking forward to having you along in June.

Yep, June is absolutely about health & wellness for me too. First step is ditching the midweek booze. I’ve fallen into an unhealthy pattern which is counteracting all the good things I do & eat. Have a great week.

All the best for your run in August. I know I need to make a similar commitment so I’m held publicly accountable and prioritise myself. Will have to ponder my own health and wellness goals for June – thanks for the inspiration!

I’m looking forward to being inspired Sue – I’m definitely thinking about turning it up a notch because I’m not getting any thinner with the way things are going atm. After a long weekend of lovely meals shared with family, I’m going to need to get myself back into the swing of things!

Oh great Leanne. Just increase your walking and I’m sure it will turn around. I know it is difficult as we get older to keep it all under control but as long as we are exercising regularly and eating well balanced meals that is really the best thing we can do for our bodies. I hope I can keep inspiring you. xx

I just had to pull out of the San Francisco half marathon 🙁 which is a bit sad for me. But I have my gym gear with me and I plan to go for a treadmill run on my lunch break. My boyfriend and I are trying to make more healthy decisions at the moment.

Oh it is sad especially after training for it but sometimes life just throws a curve ball doesn’t it, Kat? It’s great you and your boyfriend are both working on health it makes it so much easier doesn’t it? Have a good workout!

What a lovely way to celebrate June.
My current challenge is June related as it is my birthday month.
I actually started exercising to encourage my son. Little did I know it would stick.
It took me nearly 3 months to do a 8 week program (c25k) but I did it. ^_^
Next goal is to do 60min on elliptical by the end of June.
BTW, I found this post on Twitter for a 60+ calendar to celebrate the beauty of aging.
I immediately thought of you. twitter[.]com/drjoyce_knudsen/status/871780592379154432

Well I ran a full marathon before my 55th birthday Charlotte but just don’t have that in me for my 60th. I thought this would be something challenging and different. I will let you know how I go.

I need to make June a health and wellness month too- too many social occasions in May- including cake and cocktails! Good for you for signing up for the run in August- it will give you a good goal to work towards. You will be stronger than ever for your 60th birthday!
