Celebration of happiness

If you read my blog you will know that I’m making May my month of happiness. We should find happiness in our lives each day and not just for a month. However, sometimes life is busy or we are feeling down and we just can’t summon that uplifting feeling. I’m like that – what about you?

So I’ve decided now to call it the Celebration of Happiness Month.

I was looking back through my writings on the website and I have actually written quite a few posts about happiness. I would love to share some of them with you again in my Celebration of Happiness.

Celebration of Happiness

I recently saw on friend’s facebook page that they were taking up the #100happydays challenge.  (Find out more about the #100happydays challenge) . The month of October has been a very difficult one for me which was reflected in my lack of motivation and enthusiasm.

We lost a dear family friend (my husband had known her for 60 years) and I also lost my brother (only 65 years old) which was a shock to us all. Both had cancer and my brother was only diagnosed 6 weeks ago so it was very swift.  In addition to this sadness my husband and I were both ill with nasty coughs and sore throats so there was definitely some ‘feeling sorry for myself’ going on.  CONTINUE READING….

    We are into ‘joy’ in daily life here and I am just getting it. My husband is way ahead as he lives in each moment. I am still caught up with yesterday and tomorrow. It is my challenge. I am doing a wonderful on-line course with Brene based on her Daring Greatly and Rising Strong books and it is helping me a lot. So much confidence has been knocked out of me in the past 3 years I barely recognise myself at times but I am also treating myself more kindly rather than punitively as it has been more challenging for reasons I cannot share with anyone but my hub.       It is hard to be joyful all the time Denyse and your husband certainly has the right attitude. Your course certainly sounds interesting and sometimes we need external forces to help us find our happiness and joy again.     I was thinking about your post from October last year when so many sad things were happening Sue – I guess part of happiness is realizing that life moves ever onward and ebbs and flows – good times and bad. The thing with the not so great times is that they pass and happiness comes around again.

      Exactly Leanne and I think we sometimes need to feel the down times and not try to be ‘up all the time’. As you wrote in your MD post. As long as we don’t get into a downward spiral where we can’t get back to feeling good I think feeling the bad makes feeling the good so much better when it happens. Life is full of ebbs and flows.     What a great post! As well as the one about your grandson. It’s nice to slow down and live in the moment and be grateful for what you have.
    We’ve been doing a huge spring clean over the past two weeks and I woke up feeling so good this morning. Like I was organised and happy.

    I really like the idea of focusing on happiness. In my own life, I find that the major life events don’t come around often enough so it’s the little things I try to focus on to bring joy to my life. And I really love the Ron White quote!
