Okay!!!  Time to prioritize your health and happiness.

I’ve said before we live in a busy world with pressures from all areas of our life wanting some of our time.  It is easy to forget about our health and we don’t consider it until we fall ill or we feel we just aren’t coping.

It is time to put yourself first and prioritize your health and

happiness by having:

  • Regular health checks
  • Making healthier choices
  • Taking Time out for yourself

 

Regular health checks

When was your last health checkup?  I know, unless you are at death’s door your struggle on when you aren’t feeling 100%.  You may also say ‘I’m young and fit so I don’t need to think about my health at the moment’.

You need to make time for regular health checks – not just for your own wellbeing but also to be able to care for your family as well.

Regular checkups with your doctor, dentist and even your massage therapist keeps you in optimum physical and mental health.

You may be like me and have a family history of diseases such as cancer, heart disease or diabetes.  If this is the case it is even more important to schedule in those tests on a regular basis.

Making healthier choices

Let’s look at your food choices and exercise.  Keeping healthy means fuelling your body with the right foods and exercising regularly.  I’m not saying ‘diet to lose weight’ I’m saying trying to eat a healthy well balanced diet that will provide the vitamins and nutrients your body needs.

Eating foods that are not processed and cutting back on sugar will help your immune system as well as giving you the energy to cope with the stresses of life.

Exercising 30 minutes each day will keep your body in tip top condition and also keep it strong which is important as we get older.

Take time out

Making the time to relax and just ‘be’ is so important for our mental health and happiness.  We need time to do things that make us happy and help us to clear our minds for some time each day. Sometimes we feel we need to be busy all the time and fill our social calendars to within a second.

Sure, Socialising and building relationships with family and friends is an important part of being healthy and happy BUT HAVING TIME OUT ON YOUR OWN is just as important to recharge and rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit.

3 things to do today

  • Make that long overdue health check appointment
  • Make a healthy meal and go for a walk or do any exercise that you enjoy
  • Take 30 minutes for YOU to recharge & rejuvenate

    it’s funny how we always think we don’t have enough time for things (especially things that are good for us!) when it’s more a case that we don’t give them the priority they deserve in our lives. I managed a walk after work today instead of dropping down in front of my computer and it was lovely x Leanne @ cresting the hill

      Oh good for you Leanne! I’m taking two weeks away at the Coast and will try very hard to limit my time on the laptop and just enjoy relaxing, reading, time with my darling. x

    I have to admit, it’s probably been 10+ years since I’ve gone to have a check-up.
    But I did see a doctor about five years ago when I was having a terrible cough. So I should be set for another five years or so.

    Sue this is such a big reality check for me, you won’t believe! I am absolutely paranoid about visiting the doc and its actually…no jokes…14 years since my last visit, when I had my son! I am too scared to go and check! But I think I’ll be going for one real soon. I need this ‘prioritization’ so much in my life. Thanks for sharing this!

      Wow Kala that is a long time. I need to have regular checks because of family history – I can’t predict the future but I can make sure I catch any illness early enough. We do need to prioritize ourselves and our health. Thanks for visiting have a lovely day!

    It is really great advice. I think after raising kids we fall into a routine or habit of NOT prioritizing us. So, now it is time for a change. 🙂

    I’ve always made sure to visit the doctor and dentist regularly and have taught my son the same. It’s the little things that you let go that can catch up with you if you let them go too long. Thanks for sharing your post at the Over the Moon Link Party.

    Wonderful tips and especially love the quote at the top to schedule your priorities, I know for myself, a sense of stress and being led by my inbox rather than my own priorities is a source of anxiety and stress for me.

      I hear you Rosie! My inbox drives me mad. I don’t make money from my blog but it takes over my life. I’ve been trying to cut back and spend more time with my husband and family but the constant pull to the blog is there. I need to take my own advice.
