No 1 stretch

As part of our 30 days to a More Flexible You Challenge, we are all trying to stretch for at least 10 minutes each day for 30 days.  Seems easy right?  However, some of us are not quite as flexible as others and we suffer from lower back pain and vulnerability.

Do you wake up stiff and sore, especially in the lower back region?

I don’t know about you, but I toss and turn and sometimes end up in the most awkward of sleeping positions and I wake up with a sore back.  During sleep we can’t control our muscles and we need to get the blood flowing when we wake up.

This short video shows the #1 Stretch that I start my day with.  It was produced by Osteoworks.  I only recently started visiting an Osteopath and the ease that the sessions brought to not only my lower back but my whole body was AMAZING!

Such a great feeling -ooooh!

I usually hold for 30 secs to 1 minute depending how much time I have.  Even 10 minutes of stretching is better than nothing.  Although if you can put in 20 minutes of stretching a couple of times a week you will certainly benefit from the extra time.

Lower Back Pain

Do you have a headache or neck ache?  You need to stand up and STRETCH!

If you sit down for long periods you can tend to slouch over the desk which puts extra strain on your neck and back muscles. Stand up and stretch with your arms above your head and then from side to side – set an alarm to remind you and try to do this every 40 minutes or so.

    Good stuff! I need to make the time to do stretches in the morning. I tend to hop on my computer first thing (after feeding pets and making coffee) and that’s not good.

      Well I was exactly the same Lori, that is why I thought the challenge would be a good idea to maybe help me start a better morning routine. I can now touch my toes so pretty impressed with that! Thanks for stopping by.

    I am not a morning person. I’ve discovered I need to be up and moving for a while before I can even think about stretching or I won’t get the full benefit. I do find that I feel so much more alive after stretching. I have a goal to touch my toes by summer…..LOL. I’ll be honest, even has a teenager I’ve never been really flexible but I’m going to try to meet my goal.

    Stretching is so important! Sometimes people just don’t get that the flexibility component s as important as the strength for a healthy fit body.

    Ironically, as I write this, I am exhausted after a day of stretching! I’m takIng a course to teach Life Stretch. It’s a group exercise class based on the principles of Fascial Stretch Therapy, where we stretch the entire muscle, joint, and fascial line. It’s a game changer.
