5 quotes that inspire Change

At the beginning of the year, like many people, I chose a word, or in my case, two words that would define this year for me. The words were Commit and Evolve. I wanted to continue Thriving, (my word for 2018) by continuing my growth and self-development through learning and recommitting to healthier habits in my lifestyle.

I feel that I’m achieving these goals by completing a Life Coaching Certification and accepting the challenge of working with Women Over 50 to help them achieve their own goals. I’ve been working with some women for a few months now and the positive change and growth in them has been very satisfying for me to share with them. I love watching them realise their capabilities and start believing in themselves.

I’ve have also experienced changes and challenges in my life this year, the most recent was preparing and selling my MIL’s home where we lived for 11 years caring for my in-laws and finally moving to our new home. I am no longer ‘5 minutes’ away from my darling grandsons but am committed to seeing them each week and being an active participant in their lives.

I have experienced many changes during my life so I can say from experience that making Positive Change in life, isn’t easy but is definitely worth it.

During #MicrosteppinginMay we have been looking at ways to change our habits or work towards a goal using Microsteps. Small achievements that with each step brings you closer to creating your healthier and happier lifestyle.

Change can be daunting.

Change can be difficult to maintain.

Change can happen.

For Zen Tip Tuesday this week, I wanted to share some quotes that inspire and motivate us to keep moving forward. Quotes can be uplifting and I’m sharing 5 Quotes that inspire Change which you can download and refer to. Sometimes it just needs a few words of encouragement to get us back on track and remind us ‘Why’ we want to make changes in our life.

5 Quotes that inspire Change

Don’t compare and compete

5 Quotes to help you achieve change

It is so easy to fall into the trap of comparing our progess or success with others. Life is not a competition. Each of us is unique, with individual desires, habits and goals. When we stop comparing and competing we can focus on what is right for us and move closer to achieving the life that is right for us.

There is always a second chance

Change isn’t easy and sometimes we have difficulty staying on track. Some days will be easier than others and we can smash our small wins. If you fall off track, don’t beat yourself up. Use that experience to be more determined in your quest for change. Don’t dwell on what you didn’t do but embrace the new day as an opportunity to progress.

It’s your journey

Change is different for everyone it is an individual process. We all have different desires and reasons why we want to make changes in our life. Change can be daunting but within all of us is the power to change and on our own terms. The most important part of Change is taking that first step and making a start.

You can change the ending

Happiness is not a given – you create your own happiness

Many of us believe that happiness is something that is given to us through relationships, circumstances or experiences. However, true happiness comes from within. Once we let go of our limiting beliefs and find contentment through gratitude we are well on the way to being happy.

Which is quote resonated with you? What helps to keep you motivated and moving forward?

They are all great quotes that can apply at all stages of our lives. I particularly like Carl Bard quote. Thanks for sharing 🙂

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 7, 2019 at 12:56

Hi Gilda, I’m a fan of quotes as quick reminders. I love that Carl Bard quote too as well as the one about happiness. We are the creators of our own happiness and shouldn’t rely on others. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by x

    Hi Sue,
I loved all the quotes and found meaning in each, but the one that touched me most was
Happiness is not a given – you create your own happiness.
And with all that I have read and studied, this is absolutely true. There is real evidence for the fact that we are in control of our own happiness. It’s not something that just happen. We choose it.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 7, 2019 at 12:59

Hi Nancy, I liked the Happiness quote because you are right it isn’t a given but up to us. So many people rely on external people or ‘things’ to make them happy rather than focussing on the good in their lives and appreciating the little moments that can bring joy. x

I love all the quotes Sue. I can’t chose one. They all resonate and mean something to me. It’s wonderful to see you kicking goals and having so much energy and motivation and enjoyment for what you’re doing. Good health, peace and contentment, and loving what we do is what it is all about isn’t it? Thanks so much much for linking up with #ZTT Your support is always very much appreciate. xo

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 7, 2019 at 13:00

Hi Min, I hope I’m kicking goals although sometimes I wonder but at least I’ve giving it a go. I love #ZTT because it is a good prompt for me to think about ways of finding Zen which aren’t necessarily the normal ways. xx

“Start where you are. Do what you can.” is great advice that we can all apply to whatever we wish to achieve in our lives!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:34

Hi Donna, yes I liked that one. We can only do what we can. As long as we give it our best shot we can’t ask for more. x

  • Reply Debbie May 7, 2019 at 20:01

These are all great quotes addressing all our needs and desires. I really like the Carl Bard quote! You are such a warm generous person Sue, sharing your experiences and helping others get through issues. Thanks again for all you do 🙂

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:35

Hi Deb, the Carl Bard quote seems to be the most popular so far. Thank you so much for your kind and supportive words. It is lovely to know that people appreciate our efforts enough to comment. Thanks for making my day xx

I love the Carl Bard one – The Arthur Ashe one came up in the Avengers and I really like it. It’s so positive. (Shared) #MLSTL

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:38

Hi Lydia, most people who have commented have the Carl Bard quote. What a coincidence that the Arthur Ashe quote was in the Avengers. Thanks for sharing and being part of #MLSTL. Have a great week. xx

  • Reply Natalie May 8, 2019 at 07:23

Thank you, Sue, for sharing these great quotes. I like the last one (happiness comes from our own actions). I hope your move went well and you’ve settled in nicely. #MLSTL

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:39

Hi Natalie, yes we are now settled into our new home thank you. The last quote has been the most popular so far but it is true. We have to make our own happiness and not rely on others. x

Beautiful, timely quotes, Sue. Changes, they keep a-coming!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:39

Thanks Terri! Life is always about change isn’t it? xx

  • Reply jo May 8, 2019 at 08:06

Really great inspiration Sue. Today I’m struggling with a few emotional issues, and I think that remembering that each day we are born again and have the chance to make good in a new day, resonates with me very much. Thanks for the uplifment today 🙂

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:40

Hi Jo, I’m sorry to hear things are going well for you at the moment. You hide it behind your beautiful smile. I’m so pleased the quotes help and yes each day is a new beginning for us all. Take care and sending love. xx

  • Reply Candi Randolph May 8, 2019 at 10:32

Thanks for those inspiring quotes, Sue. I think the one that resonated with me was from Carl Bard. We can never go back and start again but we can start from now and make a new ending. Always look forward, never look back.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:58

Hi Candi, that one was the most popular although I do like all five. Knowing that we can always start again is comforting isn’t it? Life is full of possibilities looking forward rather than back. Have a great week.

Oooh! I love a good quotes post! Pinning to share and tweeting as well. Great words never fail to lift and inspire me. Thanks, Sue!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:57

Hi Leah I love a good quote too. Michele commented that she writes them in a notebook which is a great way to keep them handy. I find it difficult to recall some of the good ones I’ve read over the years so compiling your own book of favourite quotes is a great idea. x

  • Reply Christie Hawkes May 8, 2019 at 11:17

I love these quotes, Sue, and I’m happy to hear of your progress with your coaching endeavors. You are pretty amazing. #MLSTL

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:56

Thank you Christie! Yes I’m enjoying my coaching experience and hope to include Health and Nutrition Coaching soon. I can’t say my life isn’t full! Have a beautiful week.

Hi Sue – you know I love quotes and these were all great (including your reasons behind choosing them). I’ve pinned some and shared some others on SM. Thanks again for co-hosting #MLSTL with me – it looks like another great week xx

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:55

We’ve had another great week of #MLSTL, BBB and I always think of you when I do a quote post because I know how much you love quotes. x

  • Reply Erith May 8, 2019 at 21:21

I love the Carl Bard quote – ‘start from now and make a brand new ending’. What a great way to look at the world

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:53

This one is very popular Erith but it is a perfect way to look at the world. We might have a bad day but tomorrow is a new beginning and we can change the ending. xx

  • Reply Jennifer May 8, 2019 at 22:14

Loved and pinned all of your quotes. I especially love the one from the Dalai Lama that “The goal is not to be better than the other man, but your previous self.” It reminds me of what we teach in yoga, to stay on your mat and not compare your yoga pose to the person next to you.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:52

Thanks Jennifer and yes that is a perfect example. I remember going to yoga and always feeling self-conscious when really no one was looking at me. I’ve learned now and it makes such a difference.

  • Reply Mary Lou May 8, 2019 at 22:19

The Arthur Ashe quote gave me strength through rough times Sue. A reminder to do what I can, where I am with what I have. I’ll be sharing on FB and Twitter for #MLSTL. Thank you!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:50

Thanks for sharing Mary Lou and quotes can be so helpful can’t they?

  • Reply Pat May 9, 2019 at 02:14

Great quotes! I think journey is my favs (it is my word of the year!) I’m always impressed how you present them as well – incorporating them with lovely visuals.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:47

Thanks Pat, well that worked in well I could relate to your word of the year! Thanks for the comment about the presentation, it takes time to select the write image to reflect the words, so I appreciate your recognition. xx

  • Reply Michele May 9, 2019 at 03:45

I always love quotes. I write them in a little notebook and read them when I need a boost. Change is inevitable, and often for the better, but it does require a change of mindset.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:46

Great idea to write them in a book Michele for future reference. I will be doing that in future. Thanks for the tip. x

  • Reply Denyse Whelan May 9, 2019 at 16:25

Putting “your life” with your husband on hold for his family’s needs to be met is huge. I pay tribute to you doing that Sue as I can imagine it would have required patience and more. Now, finally, you are both ‘free’ to ‘be’ and that too has its challenges. Life seems to be like that doesn’t it. Reading quotes that resonate can be very helpful in managing our emotions and thoughts in life.

    Denyse #mlstl

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2019 at 16:43

It has been a struggle at times, Denyse, I can tell you. However, I don’t have parents and I probably would have done the same for them. It is nice now though to have ‘our time’. Mike turned 71 this week so we can never really take anything for granted timewise. You are right about the challenges to just ‘be’ and ‘freedom’ it will take some getting used to. x

Empowering quotes and I especially like the Arthur Ashe quote: “Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can.” Visiting from Midlife Share the Love Party 65 #MLSTL and pinned this post.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 10, 2019 at 07:18

Hi Nancy, I think all the quotes were very motivating because it is so easy to get overwhelmed when working towards changing a habit or working towards a goal. Thank you for sharing and for also being part of #MLSTL. I wish you a lovely weekend. x

  • Reply Erica/Erika May 15, 2019 at 10:46

Hi Sue, These are all great quotes. I especially like how “each morning we are born again.” I write a morning heading on my daily lists: “Soul food, Brain food, Good food.” When I fill my day with the good, I do not have room for the negative influences. A very simplistic message for me to align my time and energy. Thank you for being part of my ‘Soul, Brain and Good Food.” 🙂 Erica
