There is a revolution going on and I’m part of it! As readers you would know that I’m probably not seen as a revolutionary but today I’m introducing you to a group of women who are determined to change the way we view aging and midlife. You also know that I’m very much a supporter of Positive Aging and so this group was a great fit for me.
Forever Fierce: The Midlife Revolution
Forever Fierce: The Midlife Revolution is a facebook group for women 50+ to join together for support, collaboration and to enjoy each other’s experiences as we journey through this fabulous time of life. Members are facing midlife and beyond with positivity and fighting ageism which still exists in our society.
Back in February, 50 women bloggers Over 50 came together to celebrate and each wrote posts as part of the The Fierce 50 Campaign. You can get to know some of them here: http://catherinegraceo.com/fierce-50-campaign/
The Facebook group now has over 3,000 members all who are all enjoying life to the full and not letting the downside of midlife get in their way!
Last Friday we had an Instagram campaign Forever Fierce Friday Follow where we introduced ourselves and three other women who are part of the Fierce Forever group. You can check out my post here and if you look for the hashtags: #foreverfiercefollowfriday #foreverfiercerevolution #fierce50 will see more of the women of the revolution!
The next campaign in October will be Bridging the Gap where Over 50s are teamed with Millenials.
As the founder, Catherine Grace O’Connell like to say,
every woman at midlife carries a “Millennial” inside of her and every “Millennial” carries a future “Midlifer” inside of her. When we bond through our stories, we have the ability to get out of our heads where judgments occur, and connect through our hearts, where bonds take place. We deeply care about each and every one of you!
The Bridging the Gap campaign is all about putting an end to labels! Age should not separate us and the hashtag #wearestrongertogether represents the thought that women of all ages, working together can achieve. By sharing stories of 50+ women and their Millennial counterparts we are bringing women of all ages together and promoting understanding of where each of us are in life at the moment.
As a 50+ woman, we can be mentors to younger women and I’ve often wrote about the importance of being a role model. By the same token we should also be open to learning from younger women who have a zest for life and an attitude that they can achieve anything! Some of us have given birth to these amazing young women and taught them to have a ‘go for it’ attitude.
So what do you say?
Do you have a revolutionary spirit inside?
Why not check out the Fierce 50: The Midlife Revolution Facebook page and discover that life after 50 is certainly a fabulous time of life!
