How Celebrating a new look can lift your spirits

As part of my Celebrate Life Now theme I thought I would touch on the subject of How Celebrating a new look can lift your spirits.  Now this could mean different things to different people.  For me, I love to change things up and as the old cliche goes – A change is as good as a holiday.

How Celebrating a new look can lift your spirits

So today, I want us to Celebrate a new look and how it can lift our spirits.  I love going to the hair salon and having my hair done.  Sometimes I’m quite adventurous and give my hair stylist free reign but no matter what she does I always feel fabulous when I leave.

What about a new fashion style?  I know what suits me and I tend to go for the Classic look, however, when I left work I traded my Corporate greys and blacks for more colour.  Colour lifts my spirits and whenever I wear these two tops, in particular, people comment on how beautiful the colours are.

During my month of Celebrating my 60th I also decided my website needed a new look and after looking at so many I came up with this one from Restored 316 designs.  It is called Bloom and as soon as I saw it I thought – yes that is so me!  What do you think?  I love it and am very happy with my ‘new look website’.  Perhaps it will help with my creativity!

Sometimes we can get bored with our home decor and it is amazing how just rearranging furniture or buying some new cushions, prints or plants can make such a difference.

It doesn’t take much to make changes to our physical appearance, our home or even our website.  However, it can bring a new sense of vitality and lift our mood.

But what about our mental and spiritual side of life?

If we are feeling unhappy or low making, changes to our attitude and celebrating what we have that is good in life is one way to have a ‘new look’ on the inside.  Making an effort to be fit and active does wonders for not just your physical health but also your mental and spiritual health.  Exercising regularly and eating a well-balanced diet will make your skin glow and give you more energy and a zest for life.  You will actually look and feel happier.

I finished and I have the medal to prove it!

What ‘new look’ will you celebrate today?

Oh I know what you mean Debbie I’ve been sick and then busy with the party and just can’t get to all the blogs I want to comment on. I don’t know how you do it! I’ve really enjoyed your holiday posts but haven’t commented on them all.x

Hi Sue. Love this, and BTW you look STUNNING in orange! Not a colour I can wear at all. Since retiring, I seem to have gone the other way. I usually wear neutral denim blues (to match the neutral denim slacks I just about live in!) How boring is that? I do wear bright colours when I go out, but guess I should brighten my appearance around the house too! The Best of Everything. #SYW

I’m a big fan of pretty coloured tops too Sue – they give your face a real lift and brightens up how you look and feel. I also really like your new theme for your site (it reminds me a bit of mine when I visit!) xx

Thanks Leanne, as I said it was good to step away from the black and grey of the corporate world and the colours always lift my mood. I love both of our websites they are very professional I think!

I got a new refrigerator and a new range last week and can’t stop cleaning and rearranging my kitchen. My husband’s getting a kick out of it.
The thought of appliances inspiring me is funny, but they made me happy.

Oh yes Doreen! That is the point of my blog – not just physical appearance or websites but something new to give you a lift. I love getting new things for the home so enjoy your new purchases. x

It makes sense as we get older to wear more color! Being a redhead, I shied away from bold colors (except blue and green) because of the inevitable comments. When I got re-married 4 years ago, we picked out a non-traditional wedding ring at a consignment shop. The orange sapphire stone sat in a yellow gold setting–orange was never a color I would wear! Gradually, orange kept speaking to me and I may not wear a bright orange top, but go for mutes oranges, rust and peaches. I have quite a few orange accessories and even painted a couple of kitchen/dining room walls a burnt rusty orange color. It really cheers up the decor. Being a blond, those bright colors are super stunning on you! You look fab, as usual!

You would look gorgeous in those shades of orange Terri and it certainly lifts the spirits doesn’t it. Thank you for your lovely words and have a beautiful day. xx

I do LOVE to rearrange my furniture! I am always shoving it here and there. And I can’t even SAY how much better I feel after a trip to my hairdressers….

I know what you mean Nikki! I think people feel that they need to have a physical change of themselves and of course, who doesn’t like some pampering or a new hairstyle? However, as you say rearranging the furniture is a great way to inspire changes in your life with a new look for your home. Enjoy your new look living room x
