couchpotatotofabfit communityWelcome to 2016!   Have you made any resolutions for this year?

Do you want to lose weight?  Exercise more?

Eat healthier? Determined to find your 6 pack – you know it is there somewhere!

Maybe you want to just take the 10,000 step challenge?

If you have made resolutions, STOP right now! Think about it!

 

 

Ask yourself these two questions:

1. Have I made resolutions before?
2. Have I kept my resolutions?

I believe the answer to #1 is Yes and the answer to #2 for most of us is A RESOUNDING NO!

So often we have great intentions of committing to resolutions only to fall by the wayside before the end of January.

The reason?

We make unrealistic resolutions as we get caught up in the New Year Resolution frenzy.

Resolutions rarely work! Change takes time But making small changes over time, bit by bit, works and you have more chance of success.

One of the hardest things for me is to try to do it alone. What about you?

So, let’s not – Go it alone I mean.

In 2016 let’s work together, bit by bit, step by step, burpy by burpy, carrot stick by carrot stick lol… you get the picture!”

I’m passionate about my health and wellness and I find knowing that there are others making small changes at the same time, helps keep me motivated.

Workout with a buddyHaving a workout buddy makes it so much easier and although we may not be workout buddies in person, we can be virtual workout buddies.

It doesn’t matter where we are, we can be halfway around the world, but we are here to push each other and help each other not be so alone.

I love running with my Saturday Sisters each Saturday. We keep each other on track and focused as well as enjoying our friendship.

For some of us though, it is easier to take small steps with someone we don’t know. If you’ve tried and tried to lose weight or get healthier, sometimes it’s really hard to involve those closest to you.  Fear of failure can stop you from achieving your goal. If you fail then you have to see it in their eyes and on their faces every time you see them. Or perhaps they aren’t even supportive of what you want to achieve and don’t really want to know.

With a virtual workout buddy for support you have encouragement, not reminders of your failures. We are all working towards the same goal – being healthier –there is our common ground!

    Good on you for trying to get me off the couch, okay I know I am healthy on the inside but I just do not do exercise. Maybe it is lack of motivation or is it being lazy? I guess it is now time to commit.

    I love this idea Sue I really need to get fit, I was so fit a year ago and now I am a blogging couch potato. I actually got on the treadmill today and looked at my last record of exercise on my iWatch I hadn’t exercised since November 15. It felt good doing some today

      Well it is so easy for life to get in the way and before we know it our fitness levels have dropped. I’m hoping we will all improve our health overall including exercise and healthy lifestyle changes.

    Way to go Sue. I’m loving this. I’m active and exercise daily. Yet. Could always use motivation from others on the days you don’t feel like doing it.

    Love your attitude.
    I have never really been for New Years Resolutions. If you want to improve or make moves in the right direction, we shouldn’t need a new year. But, yes… it can be a good time to start.
    2016 excites me. I have a few things happening that I am really excited about .

    Hi Sue. I’m here now. This past weeks exercise is 2 PT sessions, 1 weights and one boxing. Have thrown in some lovely walks. Also doing a lot more incidental walking.parking furher away from shop and also stairs. Averaging 5,500 to 7,500 steps a day but occasionally do 10,000.

    I’m all in Sue! The last few years I’ve had a decline in working out and more sitting at my desk…which totally shows on my rear :-0 I need to fix that and I’m committed to doing whatever it takes this year and not letting things get crazy again.
