On Sunday 28th, I participated in the Lazy Runner Marathon Relay to support one of their members, Liz Butler and her charity Research for Melanoma. Liz will be taking part in the Smiddy Challenge, which is a 1600km bike ride through the heart of Queensland.
I didn’t know anyone except for the organizer, Marie Bean from Lazy Runner. I was part of Team Roke which was made up of Emily and her two sons and between us we ran 42.2kms which is a full marathon
It was a great morning, the weather was kind and it was wonderful to see so many participants all shapes, ages and fitness levels enjoying themselves and at the same time raising money for a worthy charity.
The event raised well over $2,000 which was fantastic.
Melanoma is the fourth most common cancer diagnosed in Australia1, which along with New Zealand has the world’s highest incidence rate for melanoma. For more information read my article Checked Your Moles Lately? You could be at risk.
