A sentence a day May

Can you believe it is May?  It only seemed like yesterday I was putting up the Christmas decorations!

For the month of April I took the challenge of writing a sentence a day and now I’ve decided to try it again for May.  If you missed my post for April you can read it at A writing challenge: A sentence a day for April

On the first week of each month, we link our posts up and can read what everyone has been up to.

I was surprised at what a full month April was for me and it was lovely to read back through the month to see what I had been up to.

I’ve never really been a journal person, although I have written about the positives of keeping one.  However, each time I’ve started I’ve given up.  Writing a sentence a month is short and sweet but can be a pertinent reminder of all the good things and perhaps not so good things that happen in life.

What an awesome idea. I’ve never thought of doing something with brevity, like this, because in my past journalling I tend to be so wordy and then after an initial gallop it all gets too much! I’m going to give it a go and link up! I think journalling can be very good for us as we get older – keeps us accountable to do new things, and to reflect and be grateful for what we’ve done.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 2, 2017 at 16:12

Hi Jo, I was like you re journalling and then came across this idea. It is much easier to write a sentence and also it is lovely to look back on what happened during the month. I’m so glad you will be linking up next month and look forward to reading your post. xx

Tempting post, Sue, but I have already put in place some series of posts on both my sites. Maybe another month I’ll give this a try. Causes and statistics in the fight against cancer

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 3, 2017 at 06:55

The beauty of this Shirley is that you can do it anytime. Like you I try to schedule my posts but I’ve included this monthly post in my schedule now. Have a beautiful week and thanks for visiting.

I do like this idea. I journaled for a while in my 30’s but then gave it up. I might try this. You had a happy month!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 3, 2017 at 06:54

Hi Carol! Thanks so much for stopping by to comment. I have tried to journal but it isn’t my thing and writing a sentence is so much easier. I had a lovely month thank you and it makes me feel so grateful for all that I have in my life. Have a beautiful week and hope you visit again.

I think what I love about your sentence a day posts are the pictures Sue. They are a real glimpse into your world (the highlights I know) but at the same time, they are real and show what is important to you – that makes these posts really special – and something you’ll look back on in years to come with a smile.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 3, 2017 at 06:53

I know Leanne, although because Rachel isn’t a fan of posting photos of Ethan I can’t really show front views. It is lovely to look back at the month and I’m surprised at how much I’m doing that even I find interesting!! LOL:)

  • Reply Jodie filogomo June 3, 2017 at 00:43

I love hearing about other women’s months, Sue!! It’s so nice to get a glimpse of your “real” life!!
So what did you get your husband for his birthday??
My hubbie and I end up going out for the occasion since we don’t need anything—or we’ve already bought it!!
    XOXO

I enjoyed reading your sentences, Sue! And your photos are beautiful! I’m determined to take more photos of beautiful things I come across each day and include them in my June post…

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 3, 2017 at 06:52

Hi Andrea thanks for stopping by to comment. I’m enjoying the challenge because it doesn’t take much to write a sentence. I find taking photos also reminds me of what I’ve done through the month. Have a fabulous week and I look forward to reading your June post. x

  • Reply Jennifer June 3, 2017 at 05:44

I do like the idea of picking one sentence to define your day. So simple and yet a great way to capture life.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 3, 2017 at 06:51

It is so easy Jennifer. I’ve tried journaling but give up after a short time. Writing a quick sentence to capture your day is so much easier and fun to read through at the end of the month. Have a fabulous week!

  • Reply Jess June 3, 2017 at 06:33

I Love this idea because it’s not an over the top commitment, but is a fantastic way to keep up with the memories and really reflect on a month well done. 😀

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 3, 2017 at 06:50

Hi Jess, yes that is what I love about it too. I just take a photo to remind me and it isn’t so demanding as writing a journal which I usually start and then it falls by the way side. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by.

  • Reply Carol Cassara June 3, 2017 at 07:48

As a lifelong writer, I say we should write however we can do it. A sentence a day, a week, a month!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 3, 2017 at 12:57

Yes agree Carol. I just can’t seem to journal but a sentence about my day I can handle.

  • Reply Mandi June 3, 2017 at 08:41

Your life sounds lovely and full!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 3, 2017 at 12:58

Hi Mandi I did have a lovely full month and I enjoy looking back and reading this post remembering how lucky I am.

  • Reply Linda Hobden June 3, 2017 at 09:32

What a lovely May you’ve had! My youngest son is also called Ethan – he had a road rug like your grandson too! He spent hours playing with his cars on that rug. We still have the rug and cars … ?

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 3, 2017 at 12:59

I love the name ‘Ethan’ Linda. Yes my Ethan loves his cars but also his dinosaurs and he has a big dinosaur roar for a little 3 year old!!

  • Reply Natalie June 3, 2017 at 09:42

Your month of May was wonderful minus the cold but hey it made you rest so not too bad, right? I’d love to visit Australia, hopefully towards end of 2018 or early 2019. The coastal pictures are beautiful and the koala bear look so cute.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 3, 2017 at 13:00

I’m sure you would love Australia Natalie so keep that dream alive. I had a wonderful May and yes, for once I listened to my body and rested instead of trying to push through. Have a lovely week.

  • Reply Sharon Duerst June 3, 2017 at 13:21

Your photos make the story! If I did commit to just a sentence a day, and a photo, I bet I’d be surprised by what would develop! Nice collection of moments in your life in a month. Great idea!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 3, 2017 at 16:00

Thanks so much for visiting and commenting Sharon. I love this challenge because it is quick to do. Just a sentence a day and if I take a photo of something special I’m doing that day I can upload to the post. It really is a beautiful way to keep track of my life and what I actually get up to each month. You should join up for June!

  • Reply Joyce June 3, 2017 at 21:11

What a full and happy month! That little Ethan! What a cutie! And I’m betting that your times with him were the most fun of them all!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 5, 2017 at 09:30

Hello Joyce! How lovely of you to stop by and comment. I’m biased but yes Ethan is certainly a cutie and I love him to bits! We have such fun together each week. Hope you visit again and have a fabulous week.

  • Reply Donna June 4, 2017 at 01:49

What a great month, Sue! I am inspired by you, and others, who have participated in the ‘Sentence a Day Challenge’. Thank you for sharing this here at at: #blogginggrandmotherslinkparty!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 5, 2017 at 09:28

Maybe you should try it Donna? It is easier than journalling which I’ve tried to start but give up after a short time. A sentence can capture your day and is short and sweet!

  • Reply Lori Hill-Smith June 4, 2017 at 12:51

    What a great idea!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 5, 2017 at 09:21

It certainly is easier for me than trying to write a journal Lori. A sentence is short and sweet but can mean so much. Have a lovely week!

  • Reply Dianna June 5, 2017 at 13:59

I love this idea! I will have to go back and recoup a few days but I think I might try this for my blog. This is a perfect answer to “where did the month go?”

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 5, 2017 at 15:52

That is fabulous Dianna it will be great to have you join us. You aren’t too far into the month and it is so enjoyable reading back through the month to see what you actually did! Have a great week!

What a lovely idea to start writing.
I would like to join you. If thats ok!!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 8, 2017 at 09:56

It certainly is okay! We usually link up the beginning of the month so just keep an eye out for when I publish. Have a great week!

  • Reply Clearissa Coward June 8, 2017 at 03:38

I love this idea and your month was very busy and beautiful. I’m afraid my month would be boring in comparison. Your grandson Ethan is a beautiful boy and the time you spent with cousins you haven’t seen in 40 years had to be wonderful. Thanks for sharing with #blogginggrandmotherslinkparty . I have shared it on social media.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 8, 2017 at 09:52

I’m sure your month would surprise you if you actually wrote it down. I know I was surprised at all I did. Of course, not every month can be as fun or busy but I take when it is. Each week spending time with Ethan is just so wonderful all else pales. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
