I’m cheating this month and combining my October and November Sentence a day challenge together.
I started the challenge of writing a sentence a day back in April . If you missed my posts for the last few months you can read them here A sentence a day
On the first week of each month, we link our posts up and can read what everyone has been up to. However I missed October because we were having our Spanish Adventure. So I thought I would combine my October and November antics in one post.
Writing a sentence a day for a month is short and sweet and can be a pertinent reminder of all the good things and perhaps not so good things that happen in life. BUT, as I’m combining two months I’m going to cheat and summarize.
A Spanish Adventure & Christmas preparations
October was such a wonderful time for my husband and I. As part of my 60th birthday celebrations, we had planned a 5 week holiday to London, Portual, Spain and Italy. Although it was hectic we saw so much and had some quality time together discovering these amazing places. I will be sharing more in-depth posts about the places we visited in coming posts. So here is a quick summary as a teaser….
October 1 – 4
Arrived in London late afternoon, coach ride to our hotel, early dinner and bed after travelling 26 hours. The next day we wandered through London taking in the sights of St james’ Park and Buckingham Palace, Westminster, Big Ben.
We took the opportunity to visit Warwick Castle, Stratford Upon Avon and Oxford the famous university town.
Another day discovering London with a visit to the Tower of London and wandering through the streets back to a late pub lunch near our hotel.
October 5 – 16
Leaving London we flew to Lisbon, Portugal to start our Spanish Adventure. We would commence with a 12 day bus tour with Gate 1 Travel visiting Lisbon, Seville, Costa del Sol, Toledo and Granada and finishing in Madrid. We had never done a coach tour before and it was pretty full on. The plus side was not having to carry our bags and we met some wonderful people.
October 17 – 20
We discovered Barcelona on our own for a few days and I also discovered that their wine glasses are huge! I loved the food and of course the Sangri.
October 20 – 27
Then it was off on a 7 day cruise to France, Italy, & Malta with MSC Cruises. Relaxation at last. The highlights were Sicily where we actually saw a snow capped Mt Etna and Malta which we never really knew much about, but was certainly a pleasant surprise.
October 27 – 30
Returning to Barcelona for a few nights and were in this beautiful city when history was made and the Catalonian Government declared Catalonia an independent state. It was short lived as the Spanish Government over-ruled this decision. Interesting times ahead.
October 31 – November 4
We then headed to Naples to visit my husband’s aunt and cousins. Whilst in Naples, we had a wonderful day in Capri and the gods were with us all the way. The weather was perfect and we even managed to take a boat tour around the island and of course into the Blue Grotto.
November 5 – 30 – Gratitude and Getting back to Normality
The trip was everything we had hoped for but we were also glad to come home on 6th November. I missed my grandson, Ethan in particular, so it was lovely to start back to my regular Wednesday catch ups with him.
November started very slowly as we were recovering from the long flight from Rome to Brisbane. I found it hard to settle back into normal life as we all do I suppose after a wonderful holiday.
On the blog my focus was all about Gratitude and I had some wonderful guest writers for The Gratitude Series. I’d love you to catch up on their thoughts HERE if you missed my series.
I also participated Share the Dignity’s #itsinthebag campaign where you fill a handbag with toiletries and sanitary items. These are then distributed to women in crisis. A wonderful charity which you can read more about HERE.
Wednesday catchups with my darling Grandson have been a joy and at 3.5 he is very excited about Christmas this year.
The last week of November has been full of preparations for Christmas. We spent a few days at the Coast and started our Christmas shopping for the grandchildren.
I put up my Christmas tree early because I was in the mood & helped with the Christmas decorating at my MIL aged care home.
I finished the month attending the School Gala Concert of my two eldest Grandchildren.
My October and November seem like a whirlwind and I can’t see it stopping until after Christmas. However I love my life and I really wouldn’t have it any other way.
So I am now officially caught up on this challenge, even though I modified it a little. I hope you enjoyed reading what I got up to over the last two months.
What has the rest of the year in store for me? We will be enjoying a Christmas, family time and escaping to our ‘other’ home on the Gold Coast at the end of December.
Why not try this challenge for December? It is surprising what you might write over the course of the month and it is fun reading. You can then link up and read other posts from those taking the challenge.
Don’t forget to read some of the other posts that have been linked up below.
