Week 1 of our ‘Spring Cleaning Your Health & Fitness Challenge’ started and isn’t it strange the way our brains work sometimes. You decide to take on a challenge of clean eating and fitness and suddenly you are hungry all the time!!! Sitting at my computer and an email comes in from Domino’s Pizza with the title ‘hungry?’ Not what I want to read when I’ve just started a clean eating challenge and i am feeling hungry!
The first week is all about getting into the routine and the hardest part is making sure you are Planning & Prepared. This is so important as if you aren’t prepared with your food choices, you can easily ‘fall off track’ before you have even begun.
Day 1, we weighed in, measured our chest, tummy and hips, took a blood sugar reading and a blood pressure reading.
We purchased a Ninja Master Prep Food & Drink maker which we are using to make healthy smoothies and get our extra serve of veggies.
It is strange that when you say you are taking up a challenge, in this case, Clean Eating and no alcohol you tend to think about food all the time. Normally, I’m not like that so your mind can certainly play games.
I had fallen into a very bad habit of snacking at night on fruit but have cut that out for the month and I think that has been the hardest part so far.
I’ve also started Aquatober and downloaded a Water App which records how much water you drink each day and reminds you when you should have a drink. My skin should be glowing by the end of the month!
For exercise, we did a P.T. session, a sprint session, a 45minute power walk and I did a 12km run.
Well we survived the first week.

- Keep busy to take your mind off food
- Get moving!
