Spring Cleaning Your Health & FitnessWeek 1 of our ‘Spring Cleaning Your Health & Fitness Challenge’ started and isn’t it strange the way our brains work sometimes.  You decide to take on a challenge of clean eating and fitness and suddenly you are hungry all the time!!!  Sitting at my computer and an email comes in from Domino’s Pizza with the title ‘hungry?’  Not what I want to read when I’ve just started a clean eating challenge and i am feeling hungry!

The first week is all about getting into the routine and the hardest part is making sure you are Planning & Prepared. This is so important as if you aren’t prepared with your food choices, you can easily ‘fall off track’ before you have even begun.

Day 1, we weighed in, measured our chest, tummy and hips, took a blood sugar reading and a blood pressure reading.

We purchased a Ninja Master Prep Food & Drink maker which we are using to make healthy smoothies and get our extra serve of veggies.

It is strange that when you say you are taking up a challenge, in this case, Clean Eating and no alcohol you tend to think about food all the time.  Normally, I’m not like that so your mind can certainly play games.

I had fallen into a very bad habit of snacking at night on fruit but have cut that out for the month and I think that has been the hardest part so far.

Water App

I’ve also started Aquatober and downloaded a Water App which records how much water you drink each day and reminds you when you should have a drink.  My skin should be glowing by the end of the month!

For exercise, we did a P.T. session, a sprint session, a 45minute power walk and I did a 12km run.

Well we survived the first week.

 

 

Lessons learned:

  • Plan your meals
  • Keep hydrated
  • Keep busy to take your mind off food
  • Get moving!

Next week is a new week!

    That sounds a cool app. I am also back to tracking my water. It’s easier when one does workouts, but still.

    You are doing great Sue! Congratulation…I admire you :). Heh…I am also eating fruits later evening when I work on my PC or just surf the TV…I least are just fruits for the night :D.

      Oh thanks Sinziana! Yes its not always easy but we have to try. Fruit is better than crips so you are doing well. Night time snacks can be hard to control. Thanks for your comment.

    Such a wonderful story. People always wanted to have a healthy lifestyle these days. On the day you stop your bad habits and switch it to exercise, it will surely make you healthy as you wanted it to be. Doing a healthy diet can also help you on your problem. There can be lot of things you can do to keep you healthy. Try to challenge more about yourself and prove what things you can do better.
