Last week, in the Make It Happen 2020 Challenge, I wrote about the ‘Scarcity Mindset’ and using the Two Minute Rule and Microsteps to break down our goals into manageable pieces.
Let’s recap on what we have covered so far in the Challenge:
- Step 1 – We Defined Our Goal, Our Dream that we want to realise in 2020
- Step 2 – We worked on Letting Go of our Limiting Beliefs using the resource table provided
- Step 3 – We Introduced the Two-Minute Rule and Microsteps to Overcome or ‘Scarcity Mindset’ with more resources for you to download.
So what, now?
The three steps so far have provided a basis for achieving our goals but what is the point if we don’t move to take ACTION and start to make them happen.
I came across this quote during the week which I feel is the next logical step in Making It Happen.
- TAKE ACTION
- Stop talking about it
- Stop procrastinating
- Just start
Yesterday I started a conversation about running. I’m in a Facebook Group and a member, let’s call him John, left the following comment:
Tomorrow is a big day for me, for the first time in my life, I am going to run for 10 km. I ran only 7 days for 2-5 km daily for the first time in my life. I haven’t done it before and I am so excited to do it tomorrow morning at 5:30 am.
John, felt daunted yet excited by the prospect of increasing his distance. Another member of the group, let’s call her Jane, expressed her desire to run a marathon but didn’t think she was brave enough to try.
I shared my running story with them:
‘When I was 50 my young work colleagues encouraged me to start running. I couldn’t run between two lampposts! I stuck at it and ran my first full marathon at 55 and my second full marathon at 61.
I’m 63 this year and studying for my Fitness Certificate to inspire other Over 50s to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. It starts with 500metres and builds from there – microsteps to achieve your goal. 🙂 #stillrunning
Today they both messaged me. John had run further than the 10km he wanted to achieve and Jane is feeling more positive about her goal and has entered a 10km in March as a starting point.
They had both felt inspired by my story and also took my advice about using microsteps to achieve their goals.
Both took ACTION and felt motivated to move forward.
So over to you. What ACTION can you take today to start moving forward. Are you ready to hit the START button?
Taking ACTION through microsteps will take your goal from just a dream to a Reality.
