It is August and a special month for me as I celebrate my 60th birthday!
I started the challenge of writing a sentence a day back in April and also continued in May and June. If you missed my posts for April and May you can read them here A sentence a day
On the first week of each month, we link our posts up and can read what everyone has been up to.
In August my theme for the blog is 31 days to Celebrate Your Life Now!. That means writing about not only my own celebrations but why we need to celebrate our life now and each day.
Writing a sentence a month is short and sweet but can be a pertinent reminder of all the good things and perhaps not so good things that happen in life. This is my fifth month and it is really like keeping a diary. I just love the idea.
A sentence a day for August 2017
August 1 – Well my birthday month is finally here and I’m ready to party. Visited my MIL and also had my Volunteering Induction.
August 2 – Wednesday – Ethan day and great fun playing with dinosaurs again.
August 3 – Visited my MIL and caught up on some blogging.
August 4 – My little grandson isn’t well so helped out while his Mum was on business calls. We also paid the balance on our Cruise around the Mediterranean in October.
August 5 – Took the day off and binge watched ‘Offspring’ one of my favourite Australian television dramas.
August 6 – Its a relaxing kind of ‘do nothing day; today.
August 7 – Kindy drop off a great way to start my week and my dress for my party has arrived.
August 8 – Kindy drop off but I’m not well so after a visit to the doctor with a diagnosis of pleurisy it is off home to my bed and antibiotics.
August 9 – Instead of minding my darling grandson, I’m in bed with pleurisy – not happy 🙁
August 10 – Another rest day but at least I’m reading some good books to keep my occupied. I’d recommend ‘Picture Perfect’ by Jodie Picoult, ‘Inside the O’Briens’ by Lisa Genova and a cute easy to read ‘The Little French Guest House’ by Helen Pollard.
August 11 – Feeling a little better so managed a trip to the hair salon which always lifts my spirits.
August 12 – Resting up and hoping I can run tomorrow – fingers crossed. Ordered to keep out of the living room as my husband is working on some secret business for my birthday party next week.
August 13 – The morning of the 35km run and although I’m unhappy, I’m not 100% devastated that after all the training I only managed to get through 25km my body just wasn’t back to full fitness. Had a delicious lunch though with my Saturday Sisters who thoroughly spoilt me with an early birthday gift which was a sketch of ‘The Saturday Sisters’ including me with my medal and a bottle of red wine called ‘Sisters Run’. So thoughtful.
August 14 – Blog day and caught up with a friend for morning coffee while I helped her with her assignment, then I made a delicious osso bucco in the slower cooker and had a surprise early birthday delivery from my beautiful cousin.
August 15 – Finally feeling back to normal so it was kindy drop off for my darling grandson Ethan, some yoga practice and volunteering at my MIL’s aged care facility.
August 16 – Today is a public holiday in Queensland for the Royal Exhibition, fondly known as ‘The Ekka’ when the Country comes to the City. Went with some friends and enjoyed my first every Ekka Strawberry Ice cream. Yum! You can read my post about The Ekka tradition here.
August 17 – Lunch with friend it was so hot today 31C and this is still supposed to be winter. My friend spoilt me again with a beautiful birthday gift.
August 18 – Temps are lower today but very windy! Visited MIL and then just relaxed for the afternoon. I’ve been in a reading mood lately.
August 19 – Rested up today after a busy week and looking forward to my birthday party tomorrow.
August 20 – It’s my party! Today I celebrated my 60th birthday early with a birthday party organised by my husband and daughter. Fabulous day with family and friends, I’ve very loved and spoilt! You can read all about my party here.
August 21 – Blogging day today.
August 22 – Volunteered at my MIL’s aged care facility today and was on ice cream duty! The old dears just love an ice cream cone.
August 23 – Although it feels like I’ve been having a birthday all month, today is officially my birthday. We spent the morning with my daughter and grandson and in the afternoon my son called in to see me with more birthday wishes. My children always spoil me I am so lucky to have such a loving and caring daughter and son. So many texts and birthday wishes I am overwhelmed. Beautiful flowers delivered from my Cousin in Adelaide.
August 24 – My MIL’s aged care facility is in lock down for a week because of a gastro virus. We couldn’t see her before we headed to the Coast for the second part of my birthday week.
August 25 – Did nothing but relax – it was bliss! My husband made me a delicious hot and cold seafood platter with champagne to toast my birthday.
August 26 – Went to Carrara Markets and bought a bamboo plant and orchid for our apartment on the Coast.
August 27 – Loving the Coast and had brunch out today with my darling. I took my birthday flowers with me and the lilies are just gorgeous and keep on giving.
August 28 – Another lovely lazy day on the Coast and started another crochet rug for my MIL to continue. She is making Christmas gifts for the helpers at the aged care home.
August 29 – Home from the Coast and after a two week break had a run with one of my Saturday Sisters in the afternoon. Boy it was hard to get back into it!
August 30 – Spent a wonderful day with my grandson visiting the Redcliffe Peninsular where we fed the birds, played on the beach and then had a chocolate ice cream.
August 31 – The last day of August, had my yearly mammogram and I looked back over my month – it wasn’t too bad at all!
So that was my month in a sentence a day. I hope you enjoyed reading what I got up to this month.
What has September in store for me? We are in count down mode for our October holiday.
Why not try this challenge for September? It is surprising what you might write over the course of the month and it is fun reading. You can then link up and read other posts from those taking the challenge.
