‘When Life Gives You Lemons – Make Lemonade – And try to find somebody whose life has given them vodka, and have a party.” – Ron White
I’ve heard the first part of this quotation but never the part about vodka! What does this quotation really mean to me?
We know that Lemons can taste sour and we scrunch up our faces when we eat them while our glands are working in overdrive. We don’t really like the taste so why do we continue to eat them? One reason is that they are good for us, especially squeezed into warm water. Lemons can also be delicious when baked in a cake or used in a stir fry sauce.
They don’t have to be a bad taste – it is the way you use them. Lemon and honey can be soothing when you have a sore throat. Lemons can be refreshing in a glass of cold water. There is a positive side to lemons you just have to look for it sometimes.
Life is like that. We continue on with a relationship or career or life in general which is ‘sour’ to taste but we keep going back for more. We also don’t try to find a way to fix it if possible.
Life is not perfect and anyone who says they have a perfect life might be seeing it through ‘rose-tinted’ glasses. So what if your life isn’t perfect? You can still have a great life if you have the right ATTITUDE! Click To Tweet
You have a choice – we all have a choice. Accept your lot in life and do nothing about it or accept what has been thrown at you and take up the challenge. Find a way to conquer the challenge and enjoy the results.Try to make a positive spin on what you have and you will feel so much better.Click To Tweet
If you aren’t happy then do something about it!
Make changes however small to try to find the happiness you are looking for. Being grateful and happy about small things is a start which can be built on. Don’t keep hanging out for happiness which might not exist. You are wasting your life when you could be enjoying what you do have.
Take a moment to look at a part of your life that you aren’t happy with. Is there a way to can change the situation to make it better?
Surround yourself with positive people and their positivity and happiness will be infectious. These people didn’t stop at lemons, they didn’t stop at making lemonade, they reached for more and worked at making their lives the way they wanted them to be.
Happy and successful people don’t stop at the first hurdle, they keep working until they get it right for them. In other words they go past the lemonade and take the vodka to make life a party!
So next time, ‘life throws you lemons’ consider what you can do with them. Will you throw them back? Will you make lemonade or will you be like others who have decided to accept vodka instead of lemons and enjoy your life?
It’s your call!
